About Typeform

Founded circa 2012 in Barcelona, Typeform was founded by two designers: David Okuniev and Robert Muñoz. Their mission? Make online forms a little more human. Today, Typeform works on the future of online forms. Powering your brand’s interactions with beautifully designed, professional-looking online forms that people just love. Create forms, surveys, quizzes (and so much more) to grow your audience, improve just about anything, and validate (or invalidate) your best ideas.

The most important interaction on the web is the exchange of information between a brand and its audience. And that exchange usually happens through online forms. We believe that even a utility like online forms should be remarkable. Our customers say they get more answers from their audience and even the occasional compliment. Make every interaction count.

Typeform is a team of over 200 people representing 30 countries. We have offices in Barcelona, Spain and in San Francisco, United States.

About the role

At Typeform, we have different data challenges. In the Data Engineering Team, we are working on empowering our Data Scientists by providing the proper tools to access, enriching, transforming and delivering data in the right way. So they enhance their ownership of the Data processed.

Besides, we work on ingesting and enriching data in real-time and in batch, storing it efficiently for proper consumption. Some tools we work with right now are Spark, Airflow, SQS, Kinesis, Firehose, S3, Redshift + Spectrum, Glue Metastore and coming soon with Kubernetes.

Here’s Viola, one of our data scientists:

“In our team, collaboration between data scientists and data engineers is key. The ability to brainstorm continuously and define the needs for KPIs and dashboards together is crucial for getting actionable insights and building a solid knowledge base.”

Do you love diving into data projects? Do you dream in numbers? Do you see problems as challenges? Then come be a part of something big.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Provide expert advice, make architectural considerations, apply standards, find solutions, and employ best practices around data warehousing and business intelligence.
  • Guide us through the full lifecycle of a big data solution: analyze what we need, select platforms, design technical architecture, design and develop applications, test, and deploy.
  • Challenge our current solutions and provide new ways improving our data platform and processes.
  • Gather and process raw data at scale— write distributed data jobs using different data sources (i.e APIs, DBs, event-log queues)—all to feed our Data Warehouse, Machine Learning processes, and our Data Lake.
  • Understand how data flows within our systems, ensure data integrity and availability, and organize it for reporting, analytics and consumption by internal services.
  • Work with other departments to meet their data needs, making the info clear for tech experts and newbies alike.
  • Champion a healthy data culture throughout the organization.
  • Join us for countless chats over coffees, beers, smoothies, hot soup (basically any liquid)

Here’s what we’re after:

  • You’ve got 3 years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer,.
  • You can code Spark or Kafka in your sleep, optimizing queries for performance, scalability and ease of maintenance. You understand the specific characteristics of each tool.
  • You enjoy designing Python/Scala-written data pipelines with Apache Airflow/Luigi, AWS Lambda, etc.
  • You know about big data tools such as Hadoop, and related sub-projects preferably in Spark where you have experience in clustering and writing queries.
  • You’ve got experience integrating data from multiple sources, including DBs, product tracking, and APIs.
  • You get excited when your jobs are running like clockwork.
  • You know about cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • You’ve got a background in computer science or strong programming skills in Python and Scala.
  • You enjoy discussing and contributing to new data products appearing in the open source community.
  • You love getting stuck into juicy problems. The word impossible—given the appropriate time and resources, of course—does not compute.
  • You’re hungry to learn and embrace healthy debate (who shot first?)
  • You’re proficient in English and eager to work in a multicultural, international environment.

Bonus points:

  • You’ve got experience with AWS Redshift or other MPP databases (BigQuery, Vertica, Exasol, etc.). You’ve got basic DBA skills.
  • You have experience with modern BI tools (Tableau, Qlikview, Looker) and/or SaaS BI solutions (Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.)

Think you’re a good fit? Hit apply—if you’ve got the data to back it up ;-)
