Block references

You can add a Block reference to each of your Questions and Endings. These refs are for developers using our APIs – it’s a unique identifier that allows you to easily identify each question in your code.

To change this reference to whatever you like, follow these steps:

1. Click Publish in the top right corner of your workspace.

2. Go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the right-hand sidebar and click Block references:

3. Edit the Question references of your Questions and Endings and hit Save:

The Question reference field will accept any alpha character (a-z, A-Z), any digit (0-9), ‘-‘ (dash), and ‘_’ (underscore). It will not accept any special characters such as $#%&, spaces, or empty text. If you see an 'Argh' error when setting your refs, make sure you’re not using any special characters.

You can use block references to prefill answers to Multiple Choice and Picture Choice questions when sharing through a link - read this guide to learn how.
