Airtable integration: Troubleshooting, limitations and other FAQs

This page contains answers to some common questions about the integration, as well as information about limitations.

NOTE: This integration uses the Airtable API key to give your typeform access to your Airtable.

As of August 1st, 2023, users can no longer create new Airtable API keys and won't be able to connect to this integration. Click here to learn more about Airtable's API key deprecation.

If you have previously generated an Airtable API key, you can continue to use this API key until January 2024 to connect to this integration.

We're currently working on updating our Airtable integration to be released in Q1 2024.

How do I connect my typeform with Airtable?

There are two different ways you can connect your typeform with Airtable.

Connecting to Airtable via Typeform’s connect panel allows you to create your form within your Typeform account and set up the integration for the specific form you’ve created.

Adding a Typeform Extension to your Airtable base will create a typeform for you with the proper question types that match your Airtable’s fields. You can also import existing responses when you add a Typeform Extension to your Airtable base.

I’m trying to import responses from my typeform to Airtable but why is my typeform not listed in the Airtable Extension?

When using a Typeform Extension to import existing responses into Airtable, only 50 of the most recent forms will appear from each Typeform workspace in the dropdown list.

As a workaround, you can create multiple workspaces within your Typeform account and only keep 50 forms in each workspace. Then, when you use the Typeform Extension within Airtable, you’ll see the 50 forms in each workspace.

Alternatively, you can connect your typeform with Airtable through the Connect panel in Typeform. However, this method allows you to only send new responses to Airtable and doesn’t import existing responses.

Can I add existing typeform responses to Airtable?

You can import existing typeform responses to Airtable by adding a Typeform Extension to your Airtable base. Check out this article for more information on how to import your existing responses.

Can I connect one form to two different tables in Airtable?

No, you can’t connect one form to two different tables.

Can I connect two forms to the same Airtable base?

Yes, you can add multiple forms to the same Airtable base.

Can I edit typeform questions without breaking the integration?

You can edit the text of your questions on your typeform and add or delete questions without breaking the Airtable integration. However, if you change the question type after you’ve received responses this will break the integration.

Can I show a timestamp of a response from Typeform in my Airtable?

In the Airtable base, you can add a Created time field.

The field will update with the time the response was sent to Airtable. The response time will be a few milliseconds different from the time the user submitted the form.

Why isn’t my data being passed to Airtable?

This could be due to typeform questions being mapped to an unsupported field in Airtable. Check out the list of Typeform questions and compatible Airtable field types you can map to here.

If you're using a Long text field in your Airtable base, make sure the setting for Enable rich text formatting is toggled off, it's currently not supported if you connect your typeform with Airtable via Typeform's Connect panel. However, the Enable rich text formatting setting is supported when you add the Typeform Extension to your Airtable base.

How do I delete my personal API key on Airtable?

You can delete your personal API key directly through Airtable. On your Account overview page, under the API heading, you’ll find all of your existing API keys, click Delete key. A pop-up will appear to warn you that deleting your key will break your API integrations. Click the Yes, delete key button to confirm your key deletion.
